Foundation and Concealer

One of my favorite makeup products of all time is foundation. Growing up I had acne, I still have acne but it’s not as bad as it was when I was a teen. To make things worse my Mom and older Sister had AMAZING skin. I wanted smooth, even toned skin just like them! It took me some time to figure out that foundation is supposed to look like skin, not a mask. Foundation does not have to cover everything! Concealer is what covers up the spots you want to “conceal” (haha get it?).

I put foundation all over my face and blend it a little down my neck to make sure it looks like my skin, and not like a mask. I then go in with my concealer around my nose, around my lips, a little on my forehead, and on my acne scars or any new acne that has decided to party on my face. I blend this on my face, and then I go back a blend it some more!

So here are some of my all time favorite Foundation and Concealers to use. (Not in any certain order)

*I have dry to normal skin, but in the summer I have a little more oil in my skin

clinique

Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer/ color Linen (used with a buffing brush and a beauty blender if I want extra coverage in a certain spot) This is great at covering my imperfections and still looks like skin! It has great lasting power and does not feel heavy on my skin. I feel this is the best coverage even before concealer.

*Great to buy at Dillards when they are doing the Free Gift with purchase.

nars

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation/ color Siberia or Mont Blanc (used with a buffing brush and a beauty blender if I want extra coverage in a certain spot) This foundation is a great because it gives your skin a nice glow without looking shiny and oil.

 lancome

Lancome Teint Miracle/ color Ivoire 2c (Used with a beauty sponge) This foundation is great but, not super great at covering imperfections. So if you just correcting redness this is great for you!! It looks like skin and is not heavy on the skin. I feel like I do have to touch this one up throughout the day, but thats because if i can see “too much” redness in my skin I quickly touch up.

*Great to buy at Dillards when they are doing the Free Gift with purchase.

 makesense

SeneGence MakeSense Foundations/ color (used with a buffing brush and a beauty blender if I want extra coverage in a certain spot) I feel i don’t have to touch up throughout the day. I reapply my concealer around my nose because i’m always wiping it. The foundation it’s self though stays really well! I can still see my skin through it but so it looks natural.

*I really do love this foundation and I sell it because I love it, I don’t love it because I sell it.

 bareminerals

bareMinerals bareSkin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 20/ color Shell 02 (Used with a buffing brush) This foundation is a serum so it feels great on the skin. Out of all the foundations I feel this one is most “Skin” like. It looks so natural with great coverage!

age-rewind

-Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Treatment Makeup/ color creamy ivory (Used with the sponge on the product and blended with beauty blender) I use this as a concealer, and place it around my nose, mouth, on my acne scars, and a little on my forehead.

fit-me-shades

– Maybelline Fit Me Concealer/ color light (used with a beauty blender) This concealer is a dupe the Nars concealer. I always will repurchase this product!

I use these products throughout the year switching them from time to time. I found if I use the same foundation for months on end they don’t work as well on me. My skin changes so I change my foundation as well. I also get bored with doing my makeup, so trying new products or going back to an old favorite makes me happy.

I also try to clean my sponges and brushes at least once every 2 weeks, this helps with acne and helps you makeup blend more easily.

nivea

Let me add a little bonus by saying I use a primer before my foundation that’s really not a primer. It’s a Men’s after-shave balm! It’s Nivea cooling post shave balm in sensitive. It’s cheaper then other primers (it’s like $6 compared to the high end primers that are $15+) and you get a lot more of the product for your money!

If you have a daughter or you yourself want to get into foundations I say go to the Clinique counter at Dillard’s or Nordstrom’s (not sponsored by them I just really feel they are the best!). Also bareMinerals is a great way to start for foundations. If you go to a counter to try foundations you can get samples, which it a great way to test drive a foundation for your life style!

*All these Products I have repurchased and really do LOVE!
